Weekly Fishing Report - Good Scores at Lochter

With the football season coming to a timely end with Liverpool the champions supreme of Europe, down Lochter way we had our own top scorers during the week. Eager anglers were plentiful, no doubt brought out by the sunshine and rise in temperature.

Lloyd Rattray had two evening sessions and he was in double figures for both, in ideal conditions in which to use CDC’s, dry’s and buzzers.

Liam Stephen on a brief hiatus from his normal River Don environment had a day session as he waited for the river to fall and he was equally successful in getting into double figures using a deftly cast ceramic bug.

Ronnie Ewen from Macduff caught some hard fighting trout using the diawl bachs which accounted for 18 fish.

Paul Keir fished a black fritz to good effect and brought 15 fish to the net, Peter Young fished the Muckle Troot with lures including the WSW and yellow dancer and he also had 15 fish for his day.

Other notable efforts during the week were J. Mackay with 14 fish and a green lure fished fast, Steve Prince stuck to diawl bachs and was rewarded with 13 fish, Albert Trail stuck to dry’s and buzzers and accounted for 12 fish and Jason James on his first visit from Skegness had 10 fish on what he called ‘deadly dry dukes’!

A special mention goes to Banchory British Legion who swooped in late to win the Regional Heat at Lochter against its stiffest of local opposition. They now go forward to the National Legion Final in a few weeks time and we wish them all the best.

Also on Saturday, the Frigate Bar from Aberdeen had what their mine host Ian Findlay called a ‘fishing and fun day oot’. In wonderfully sunny and dry conditions they caught fish aplenty before retiring from their toils to have a scrumptious barbeque washed down with reviving refreshments of every colour, size and strength. Prior to boarding their bus back to the big toon Ian Findlay declared “We’ve had a grand day oot” and we certainly hope to see them again before too long.

Bright and blustery conditions are forecast for the week ahead so it must be summer!

Tight lines,
